The panel kicked off with moderator Paul Pariser, Co-CEO of Taconic Investment Partners asking the panelists about some recent career highlights and their backgrounds before moving on to other hot topics and trends. 

This dynamic panel, moderated by alumna Nancy Lashine '81, brought together three visionaries whose companies are cultivating change within the commercial and residential real estate markets. 

David Sherman moderated a panel of four distinguished real estate professionals, trying to unpack a simple question with an answer that was anything but: how long can this commercial real estate cycle last?  

Students in this year’s Real Estate Projects Class taught by Adjunct Associate Professor Andrew C. Jacobs ’96 worked diligently all semester in preparation for the Alexander Bodini Competition held at Columbia Business School on December 9, 2015. Competition was stiff, but MBA students Nikhil Chaudhri ’16, Taylor Ott ’16 and Aradhna Taneja ’16 ended up winning first place in the Alexander Bodini Foundation Prize Competition. 

On Friday, December 4, 2015 the Real Estate Association (REA) met with representatives from DDG to tour one of their latest projects, XOCO 325, a luxury condominium development located at 325 West Broadway in SoHo, Manhattan. 

On Friday, November 20th, graduate students from the Real Estate programs at Columbia, MIT, and Harvard gathered in Uris Hall for the annual Coming to Terms: Negotiating Real Estate Joint Ventures event.  Co-sponsored by the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, The MIT Center for Real Estate, and the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, the event offered student participants the rare opportunity to engage with seasoned professionals from both the legal and business sides of the real estate industry.  

Bringing warm weather and high spirits with them, the Columbia Business School (“CBS”) Real Estate Association (“REA”) traveled to Chicago from November 1st to 3rd to learn about the current investment landscape in the country’s 3rd largest city.  They were joined by representatives from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate for a two-and-a-half day trek around The Loop and River North.  

On Friday, November 6th, the Real Estate Association (REA) and members of the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate met with executives and associates from Toll Brothers City Living and toured two major luxury residential developments in New York City: Pierhouse at Brooklyn Bridge Park and 400 Park Avenue South in Manhattan.

On Friday, October 23rd, the Real Estate Association (REA) and members of the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate met with executives and associates from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and toured the 16-acre World Trade Center Site including One World Trade Center.

Cia Buckley Marakovits ’93 is Chief Investment Officer, Partner, Managing Director, and Member of the Investment Committee at Dune Real Estate Partners. In a recent interview with Sarah Pous ’15, Ms. Buckley Marakovits discussed trends in the real estate industry and gave advice for Columbia Business School students aspiring to have careers in real estate.
